In your Ledgersys dashboard, go to API Connections and select your exchange. Generate a read-only API key from your exchange, then paste it into Ledgersys. Your transaction history syncs automatically — live data, no manual exports. Supported exchanges include Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, VALR, Luno and 90+ others. See our API Connection guide for exchange-specific instructions.
Yes. Ledgersys only ever uses read-only API permissions — we cannot trade, withdraw, or move your funds. All API keys are encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption. We strongly recommend generating a read-only key specifically for Ledgersys and never sharing keys with withdrawal permissions with any third party.
Transferring Bitcoin between your own wallets is not a taxable event in most jurisdictions. Ledgersys automatically identifies internal transfers by matching outgoing transactions on one source with incoming transactions on another — so they are correctly excluded from your tax calculations. This is one of the most common sources of error in other Bitcoin tax tools.
Ledgersys currently supports South Africa (SARS), United States (IRS), United Kingdom (HMRC), and Australia (ATO). Canada, Germany, France and additional jurisdictions are actively being built. See our Roadmap for expected release dates.
Yes. Ledgersys accepts Bitcoin payments via BTCPay Server on all paid plans. When upgrading, select Pay with Bitcoin at checkout. A BTCPay invoice is generated with the current BTC amount. Send the exact amount from your wallet and your plan activates automatically on-chain confirmation. Lightning Network is also supported.
These are cost basis accounting methods that determine which Bitcoin you are considered to have sold first. FIFO (First In First Out) sells your oldest Bitcoin first. LIFO (Last In First Out) sells your most recent Bitcoin first. HIFO (Highest In First Out) sells the highest-cost Bitcoin first, minimising taxable gains. Ledgersys supports all three — switch between them in your dashboard settings or via API.
Yes. Ledgersys supports wallet monitoring via public address. Simply enter any Bitcoin wallet address and Ledgersys will monitor it automatically — no API keys required, no private keys ever. This is a great way to track hardware wallets or self-custody holdings alongside your exchange data.
Go to Account Settings and click Billing, then Cancel Subscription. Your paid plan remains active until the end of your current billing period. Your account then moves to the Free plan. Your data is never deleted — you have 30 days after downgrade to export everything.
