Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 2026 | Effective date: April 2026
Ledgersys uses cookies only where strictly necessary to operate the platform. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics. This policy explains exactly which cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them. Questions? Contact us at support@ledgersys.live.
1 What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work correctly, remember your preferences, and provide information to website operators about how their site is used.
Cookies are not programs and cannot execute code, install software, or access your files. They contain only text — usually a unique identifier, an expiry date, and the domain that set them.
There are several types of cookies:
- Session cookies: Temporary cookies that expire when you close your browser. They are used to keep you logged in during a single browsing session.
- Persistent cookies: Cookies that remain on your device until they expire or you delete them. They are used to remember preferences across sessions.
- First-party cookies: Cookies set by the website you are visiting — in this case, ledgersys.live.
- Third-party cookies: Cookies set by a domain other than the one you are visiting. Commonly used for advertising and cross-site tracking.
Ledgersys uses first-party session cookies only. We do not set any persistent tracking cookies and we do not allow third-party advertising cookies on our platform.
2 How We Use Cookies
Ledgersys uses cookies for one purpose only: to make the platform function correctly and securely. Specifically, we use cookies to:
- Keep you logged in as you navigate between pages of the Ledgersys dashboard
- Protect you against Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) attacks by verifying that form submissions originate from your authenticated session
- Remember your currency and display preferences within a session
- Maintain the security and integrity of your account session
We do not use cookies to track your behaviour across other websites. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles. We do not share cookie data with any third party.
3 Cookies We Use
The following is a complete list of every cookie set by Ledgersys. We believe in full transparency — if a cookie is not listed here, we are not setting it.
| Cookie Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Essential? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| session | Session | Keeps you logged in during your browsing session. Contains an encrypted reference to your authenticated session — never your personal data directly. Required for login to work. | Until browser is closed or you log out | Yes |
| csrf_token | Session | Security cookie that protects your account against Cross-Site Request Forgery attacks. Verifies that form submissions come from your authentic session and not from a malicious third-party site. | Until browser is closed or you log out | Yes |
That is the complete list. Two cookies. Both session-only. Both essential. No exceptions.
Why so few? Most websites set dozens of cookies — advertising trackers, analytics pixels, social media buttons, and marketing tools. Ledgersys sets exactly two, both of which are required for the platform to function securely. This is a deliberate choice consistent with our privacy-first design philosophy.
4 Cookies We Don't Use
We want to be explicit about what you will not find on Ledgersys:
We do not participate in any advertising network. No cookies are set by advertising platforms such as Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, or any other ad network on any Ledgersys page.
We do not use Google Analytics, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, or any other third-party analytics tool that sets cookies on your device. We analyse aggregate server logs only — no individual tracking.
Ledgersys does not embed social media widgets, share buttons, or login integrations from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or any other social platform that would set cookies on your device.
We do not track your activity across other websites. When you leave Ledgersys, we have no mechanism to follow you. Your browsing behaviour outside of our platform is entirely private.
We do not set long-lived persistent cookies to remember your preferences between sessions. Your currency preference and display settings are stored in your account, not in a cookie on your device.
We do not use browser fingerprinting, local storage tracking, or any other technique designed to track you in ways that bypass normal cookie controls.
5 Third-Party Cookies
Ledgersys loads a small number of resources from third-party CDNs — specifically Google Fonts for typography and Cloudflare's CDN for our icon library (Font Awesome). These are loaded as external resources and may result in a connection to those servers from your browser.
We have selected these providers because they are widely trusted and privacy-conscious. However, please note:
- Google Fonts: Fonts are loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log the request, including your IP address, browser version, and referring page. For maximum privacy, you can block Google Fonts in your browser and Ledgersys will fall back to system fonts.
- Cloudflare CDN (Font Awesome): Icons are loaded from Cloudflare's CDN. Cloudflare may log the request for infrastructure monitoring purposes. Cloudflare does not set advertising or tracking cookies through this delivery mechanism.
Neither Google Fonts nor Cloudflare's CDN sets cookies on your device as part of serving these resources to Ledgersys. The connection is a standard CDN resource request — not a tracking mechanism.
6 Managing Cookies
Browser Settings
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View which cookies are currently stored on your device
- Delete all cookies or cookies from specific websites
- Block cookies from all websites or specific websites
- Set preferences for how cookies are handled going forward
Instructions for managing cookies in the most common browsers:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
Impact of Blocking Cookies
Important: The two cookies Ledgersys sets are both essential for the platform to function. If you block or delete the session cookie, you will not be able to log in or use any authenticated features of Ledgersys. The CSRF token cookie is required for security — without it, form submissions will be rejected. If you need to use Ledgersys, you must allow these two session cookies from ledgersys.live.
Blocking Third-Party Resources
If you wish to prevent connections to Google Fonts or Cloudflare CDN, you can use a browser extension such as uBlock Origin to block these resources. Ledgersys will continue to function correctly — icons may not display and fonts will fall back to your system default, but all platform functionality remains available.
7 Cookie Consent
Because Ledgersys uses only strictly essential cookies — cookies that are required for the platform to function and cannot be switched off without preventing the service from working — we do not display a cookie consent banner.
Under most data protection frameworks, including GDPR and POPIA, strictly necessary cookies do not require prior consent because they are essential to providing a service explicitly requested by the user. By creating a Ledgersys account and logging in, you are explicitly requesting the service, and our session and security cookies are an inseparable part of that service.
We have taken this position because:
- We genuinely use only essential cookies — there is nothing else to consent to
- Cookie consent banners for essential-only cookies create unnecessary friction without providing meaningful privacy choice
- Our approach is consistent with our broader privacy-first philosophy
If we ever introduce non-essential cookies — which we do not plan to do — we will update this policy, display a proper consent mechanism, and give you a genuine choice before setting any non-essential cookie.
8 Changes to This Policy
If we change our cookie practices — for example, if we introduce a new cookie — we will update this policy and notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. The updated policy will be posted at ledgersys.live/cookies with the date of last update clearly displayed.
We commit to never introducing non-essential cookies without explicit notice and, where required, your consent.
9 Contact Us
If you have any questions about our use of cookies or this policy, please contact us:
Two Cookies. That's It.
Essential Only
We set exactly two cookies — both session-only, both essential for the platform to function. No analytics, no advertising, no tracking. That is the complete list and it will not grow without explicit notice.
No Advertising. Ever.
Ledgersys does not participate in any advertising network. No advertising cookie has ever been set on a Ledgersys page. No advertising cookie ever will be — it is contrary to our core values.
Always Notified First
If we ever introduce a new cookie of any kind, we will notify you by email at least 14 days in advance, update this policy, and where required by law, ask for your consent before setting it.
